I have a issue where if I go to sleep before 10pm I constantly wake up around 1am. But when I go to sleep after 10pm I can have a quality night sleep. Why does this happen?

Wonderful that you get a good and healthy sleep if you go to bed after 22:00 and I suggest that you just make sure to sleep after this hour.

The fact that if you go to bed before 10:00 pm you wake up at 1:00 am can be a lot of reasons and I do not know your life routine to know the exact answer. Anyway, I think it has nothing to do with the hour but with the routine of the day that preceded it.

Maybe on the days when you feel you want to go to bed early, you worked a lot so you drank a lot of fluids and you wake up because you need to go to the bathroom. You may have been tired that day so you drank a lot of coffee and that’s what wakes you up. I suggest you keep a close eye on your routine on days when you feel like you want to go to bed before 10 am and thus solve the mystery.
